FAQs
Why the Name Trusting Hands Midwifery?
The name “Trusting Hands Midwifery” came, to this practice after I worked with an artist to design the logo. I knew that I wanted to show my hands holding a baby’s feet, with fruits all around. I didn't want just any fruits shown but fruits that are mentioned in The Holy Qur’an. Pictured in the Trusting Hands Midwifery logo is a twig and fruit from a lote tree, pomegranate fruit, and date fruit.
There is something about attending births and seeing the outcome after labor. You know the saying, the fruits of (one's) labor? Every time I attend a birth I think of this saying, every mother at the end receives the fruit of their labor.
I am a Muslim midwife who puts my utmost trust in The Creator, Allah عزوجل that is the foundation of my life and my practice. These hands that I practice with, rely and trust on Allah عزوجل, hence the reason for the name "Trusting Hands".
How long have you been practicing?
By the Mercyof ﷲ, I have been licensed since Sept 2021, and have operated as an independent practicing OOH midwife since 2022. Although my Midwifery practice is new, I have attended births for 9 years. My training has equipped me with the necessary competencies to offer midwifery care as an independent midwife, according to the scope of practice regulated by MBON for licensed out-of-hospital midwifery.
What are your credentials?
I am a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM), licensed by the State of Maryland Board of Nursing to practice midwifery as a direct-entry midwife. I am licensed to practice midwifery in the out-of-hospital setting. A Certified Professional Midwife’s (CPM) competency is established through training, education and supervised clinical experience, followed by successful completion of a written examination. So far, I am licensed to practice in Maryland, and Virginia, and I can practice in D.C.
Are you available via phone/text? Specific days/hours you aren’t available?

For matters that are not urgent, please contact me during business hours(Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 6:00 pm). As for matters that are not urgent, but that you can not wait to tell me, please text me even after business hours. For urgent matters, please call me as soon as possible. However, if you have a life-threatening event, please call EMS right away.
How many planned births do you accept per month?
I am open to take up to 2 births per month at this time. Please reach out as early in your pregnancy as possible.
Where does your practice attend deliveries and visits? Birth center? Home? Hospital?
Although I have experience attending births in the birth center setting, my practice does not offer a birth center option. We attend homebirths exclusively at this time, unless we are acting in the role of a birth assistant at a birth center where another midwife is the primary midwife. Our in person prenatal and postpartum visits are currently only being offered in the comfort of your home.
What are your fees? Do you offer payment plans? Accept insurance?
Our fees can be found on the "Fees and Insurance" page of our website. Sadly we are not in-network providers with any insurance companies. All fees are to be paid out of pocket, however we can accept payment plans! We also have contracted with an insurance biller who can work toward seeing what your insurance can reimburse you for our services. My goal is to make my services accessible, so please reach out regardless of your situation, and we can brainstorm how to make this affordable for you. Our planned home birth services require a deposit of $500 at the start of care.
What about ultrasounds and lab tests?
Ultrasounds and lab tests are not covered in our fee. Your ultrasounds and labs should be covered by your insurance. We refer our clients who want or need ultrasound referrals to Maternal Fetal Medicine practices, or to Advanced Radiology or Community Radiology if indicated. It's a very easy process where we send them the referral order, and they contact you. The Midwife of Trusting Hands Midwifery collects lab specimens for any screenings or tests needed in the comfort of your own home. We then send them off to Quest Diagnostics or right you and order for Lab Corp if you prefer to walk into their patient center for labs.
There are not many Midwives who wear Niqab (The face veil), can you tell us more about your Niqab (face veil)?
I wear a Niqab ( face veil) in public settings, and even in the pictures on my website or social media. Wearing the Niqab is a an act of worship to Allaah that I observe. During our free consultation to see if my care is a right fit for your needs, I do conduct this consultation over zoom in private with you without the wearing of my Niqab.
